Customer Rating: Summary: ALIPH JAWBONE II BLUETOOTH Comment: THIS WAS A REPLACEMENT JAWBONE II FOR THE ONE I LOST. THE REPLACEMENT WAS POORLY DESIGNED AS IT WAS IMPORSIBLE TO KEEP IT ON MY EAR DESPITE THE NUMEROUS EAR PLUGS AND METAL EAR LOOPS. VERY HARD TO TURN ON. THE UNIT REPEATEDLY CUT OFF INCOMING CALLS, WHICH IS NOT GOOD SINCE IT WAS PURCHASED PRIMARILY FOR BUSINESS. THE UNIT IS SO LIGHT THAT WHEN YOU TILT YOUR HEAD, JUST SLIGHTLY, THE UNIT FALLS OFF. I GAVE IT TO MY SON. HE IS HAVING THE SAME PROBLEMS. I WENT TO FRY'S ELECTRONICS IN PLANO, TX AND PURCHASED A SAMSUNG WEP700 FOR $30. IT WORKS LIKE A CHARM. STAYS IN THE EAR. EASY TO TURN ON AND OFF AND NO DROPPED CALLS.
Customer Rating: Summary: What a waste of money. Comment: I can't beleive I bought this thing. Have had it a total of 3 days and already broke off the earloop. Very poor design. For the noise cancelling to work it requires the ear piece to be pressed against your head, but this is almost impossible with the design of the earloop. VERY Disappointed.
Customer Rating: Summary: Decent phone if you can hold it on your ear Comment: I bought this phone after reading glowing reviews about call quality etc. and here is what I found out:
1. Sound quality is great on both sides
2. Major handicap of this phone is its ear-frame. Phone comes with 3 of the curved frames that you are supposed to use for holding phone against your ear. In my case, it is absolute failure. I am not sure but I think the designer put all its creative energy in designing the piece and then hired some passer by to design the ear loop
3. A product is as good as it is usable - there is no point in having 20lb laptop even if it is fastest and has best battery life. Similarly in my case I am not able to use this phone because it keeps on falling off due to flimsy ear loop
4. but whenever it is present on my ear, the sound quality is great - hence 3 stars instead of 1 :-)
Customer Rating: Summary: Disappointed Comment: Got the JB II after having the 1st generation which worked well for me except I had
always wished it was smaller. So when the 2nd generation came out I was excited to
get it. Unfortunately I'm pretty disappointed in it. Yeah its smaller and lighter
which is nice. The thing just doesn't stay in position on my ear. I've tried all
the ear loops that came with it and even went back to using the one that worked good
for me from the 1st generation. Nothing keeps this thing securely in place so it flops around, falls off, and I'm constantly resetting it on my ear so I can hear and
talk with it. Another drawback is that it doesn't get loud enough. I don't have a
hearing impairment but its hard to hear the other party sometimes when I'm driving
or there's background noise that the NoiseAssassin doesn't seem to negate. This leaves me maxing out the volume and still straining to hear sometimes. Often I just
take the phone off BT; so why did I buy this thing again? The size is nice and it looks cool but if I can't get it to fit good its worthless to me.
Customer Rating: Summary: Good headset for the money Comment: I ordered this headset like everybody else based on it's reputation. The Aliph Jawbone is considered to be one of the best in the industry due to it's advanced noise canceling abilities. I received my unit within two days thanks to Amazon's fast processing, but it was not working. The mic worked and it synch'd to my iPhone 3G with no problems but I could not hear anything. I got no audio out of it whatsoever. I was able to get a hold of Jawbone Customer Service pretty quickly and did some testing to confirm the unit was defective. They immediately shipped me a new headset. The new headset works great, audio is pretty clean. There is a lot of people crying on here that the audio is low and tinny, and I'm not sure what their expectations are but your dealing with device that is smaller than my pinky. I've owned a lot of bluetooth headsets and never had one that I would consider to be great audio or volume. The speakers in these devices are super tiny and have to be very conservative of how much energy they consume to maintain battery life. My expectation is can I still hold a conversation safely and without frustration and the answer is yes I can. While I was playing with this today, I got a business call and decided to take the call with the headset on. The caller never even noticed I was on headset, no "can you say that again" or "I'm sorry I missed that" and I was able to hear him with no problems at all. Now to be fair this was done in my house on a quiet day. I have not tested it on the open road. However road noise at highway speeds are always difficult, I drive a SUV and at highway speeds that truck is so noisy I can barely hear my stereo, so I am not expecting a device the size of my pinky to do the impossible. If it's an important call pull over! The fit is really good, once again I think people's expectations are too high. I think most people expect a tight fit and that is not a good fit. Headset's should be light and loose to prevent ear fatigue. I had a Jabra that was a good headset but could not wear for more than 30 minutes because of the in-ear design and tight fit around the back of my ear. It's tight fit improved call volume but at the expense of a sore ear. The Jawbone fits nice and loose, close enough to my ear canal that I can hear well enough but hangs light enough on my ear that I forget it's even there. I never felt it was going to fall off because I did the shake test. The shake test consists of putting on some heavy metal music and banging your head till your neck is sore, which now happens in less then five minutes however not only did the jawbone not fall off it didn't even move out of position. That's an ideal fit. Bottom line at this price this is an excellent device, at it's original price your paying a little too much. It's get's the job done well, not perfect but very well. Remember your buying convenience not improved call quality.
